W5 glory for P.5/6 pupils!
P5/6 class enjoyed the experience of taking part in a programme in W5 called Seismic Citizenship funded by The British Council. On 20th February 2018, P.5/6 received a visit from W5 which incorporated some Stem activities and a visit from a Chilean Language Assistant who taught some Spanish and gave a background to Chile. This visit was then followed up on 15th March with a free visit to W5 where pupils were challenged to create an earthquake resistant building. They completed 2 challenges:
- Chile Challenge.
- Seismic Challenge.
We are delighted that St. Mary’s P5/6 class won the overall prize for their participation. Our school will receive STEM resources ie electrical circuit boards. Elaine Steele from W5 Education will be visiting school next Tuesday 27 March to present the prize.
CONGRATULATIONS P.5/6!!
